So, you have made the decision that a cute pussy cat would be the most practical option for you. A dog would need more time and attention than you can give, especially for taking on walks. A cat will be more independant and so fit into your busy lifestyle but still be cared for properly. Now, you need to prepare for the new arrival - you’ll want to make sure that your home will encourage feline health and well-being.
Environment
Look over your home to make sure that they will be in a safe that environment e.g no stray wires they could chew, no holes that they can fall into or any sharp areas that they could get hurt on. Cats are curious creatures and will explore everywhere!
Cat Bed
Your kitty will need a comfortable place to sleep. A wicker basket bed with cotton or wool blankets is a good choice. Cats love something that is soft and warm and, for you, cotton or wool blankets are easy to clean or replace.
Feeding Utensils
You will need to provide a food dish and a water dish or a dispenser for clean, fresh water. It’s a good idea to have dishes that are made of steel instead of plastic because your cat might play with the dish. Plastic dishes get scratched easily or damaged. They are then difficult to clean thoroughly and can harbour harmful bacteria (to both cats and their human owners).
Toys For Your Kitty
Don’t forget toys. Cats and kittens like to have something to dig their claws into, quite literally! Giving them fun toys to play with will help to keep your furniture safe.
Find A Vet
It is also essential that you have your feline taken care of by a trusted vet. Ask friends and colleagues for recommendations before you bring your cat home so you are prepared for any emergencies. It is a good idea to have an initial checkup. A vet can spot potential problems that you could not see or did not realize that your pet is suffering from. They may also need innoculations which the vet will advise you upon.
Mainly, you will want to know that your pet is healthy and how to maintain that so that they will have a happy life and will be loving pets for many years to come.
